TEDxAlmendraMedieval, Shake it! Mix it! is built around the concept of ideas that move us, merge, and transform into new ideas, thus transforming us along with them.

Shake it! Mix it! is an event dedicated to the hybridization of ideas, emotions, feelings, signs, challenges, and surprises. Ultimately, we believe that it is in mixture where growth lies. It is in intersections where innovation sparks. It is by coalescing that we learn to keep on growing and sharing.

  • The event lasts the whole day Saturday, approximately from 9 am to 6 pm. There are also activities on Friday evening.

  • 12 talks with ideas worth spreading, 3 live performances, a gift bag, lunch, coffee, non-conference-related activities (workshops, etc.), a wonderful atmosphere and an unforgettable experience.

  • We recommend and appreciate your using public transport to come to Europa Congress Palace.

    By streetcar, stop Europa.

    By bus, L8 y L5, stop Europa.

Alternatively, Vitoria-Gasteiz has a wonderful network of bike paths, so bicycles are a great option, too. There are several bike rental companies operating in the city (ask at your hotel).

  • There are many accommodations in Vitoria-Gasteiz. We have an agreement with Gran Hotel Lakua for accomodations and if you mention TEDxAlmendraMedieval when making your reservations, they will apply the following rates (VAT included):

    Double room: 60€ / With breakfast 80€

    Single room: 55€ / With breakfast 65€

  • Revenue from ticket sales is intended exclusively for the production of the TEDxAlmendraMedieval. None of the organizers, volunteers, or speakers get paid by TEDx. This is stricly altruistic work.

  • TEDxAlmendraMedieval is an independent TEDx event, operated under license from TED.

TEDx (x=independently organized TED event) was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading”. The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to create TED-like experiences locally through their own events.

TED (Technology, Entertainment & Design) is an annual conference held in Vancouver, Canada, which brings together the brightest minds of our generation to share their ideas with a curated audience of open-minded individuals. Based on any number of subjects, these “TED talks”, are then made available online for free, so that their ideas may spread throughout the world.

As a complement to the annual TEDx event, there are the TEDxAlmendraMedievalSalon events, shorter events with fewer speakers. Salon events focus on a single topic, and their main feature is that they might spark debate around a certain issue that interests the local community. Attendees actively participate in these events.

  • We are very punctual people. As such, doors will open one hour before the event to ensure the program is set to begin on time. The sooner you arrive, the sooner you will be able to enjoy a coffee, meet other participants, and grab your seat.

  • Four of the twelve talks will be in English, but we will have simultaneous interpreting so you won’t miss a word.  We are sorry, but there will not be interpretions to Spanish.

Auzodance & Koldo Mitxelena Dance Group

To nobody, never, in any place!!

This Goian performance comes from a collaborative work with other education centers on the various problems of Vitoria-Gasteiz. The objective is to sensitize both groups of young people (members of Auzodance and Koldo Mitxelena’s dance groups) toward violence against women.  In this way, these young girls become part of something that gives back to society by raising awareness on this topic that today is in everybody’s conversations.
The feminist platform in charge of the N25 demonstration contacted Goian with the idea of making a promo video of the demonstration through the medium of dance. Thus came the idea of putting the two troupes together and creating the performance ‘Inori inoiz inon ez’, a powerful and evocative dance with the tango Roxanne. Hala Bideo, another company that’s based in the Old Quarter, were contacted for the recording, to boost collaborations between different agents within the Old Quarter.
